COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE CENTER AWARDED GRANT BY MONTGOMERY COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION TO ADDRESS FOOD INSECURITY NEEDS OF LOCAL RESIDENTS

Conroe, TX- Community Assistance Center (CAC) announces a new grant awarded by the Montgomery County Community Foundation (MCCF) for its Summer Stock and Senior Grocery Delivery Programs.
Community Assistance Center (CAC) is the leader in strengthening our neighbors across Montgomery County because of programs like Summer Stock and Senior Grocery Delivery, which tackle food insecurity for some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
Feeding America estimated in 2021 that 11.7% of people (roughly 71,000) in Montgomery County are food insecure. This number increases to 13% for children, which is roughly 21,000 kids in Montgomery County alone.
"Food insecurity continues to present significant challenges in our community, and CAC is steadfast in our mission to ensure all families have access to the nutrition they need. Programs like our Summer Stock initiative provide critical nutrition to children who typically rely on free or reduced lunch programs during the school year, helping to ease the financial strain families face during the summer months. Similarly, our Senior Grocery Delivery program ensures homebound seniors have consistent access to fresh, nutritious food, supporting their independence.” -Jennifer Huffine, President and CEO of Community Assistance Center (CAC)
Community Assistance Center will use this generous grant to expand its reach and capabilities as it tackles food insecurity throughout Montgomery County in 2025. We are sincerely grateful for our long-standing partnership with the Montgomery County Community Foundation (MCCF). Their support is paramount to the success of these efforts, enabling us to expand our reach and serve more neighbors in need. Together, we are fostering a healthier, more stable community where everyone has the nourishment they need to thrive.
