2024 Speaker Application - The Woodlands Area Business Summit

The Chamber believes in the growth and development of businesses and is committed to providing continuing education and training as we continue to be a professional resource to our members and community.

We have developed a one-day business conference that will appeal to all Chamber members, provide opportunities to connect, and present information important to the development, management and success of their businesses.

Members may apply to be a speaker at this event. Topics of interest include: marketing, technology, innovation, human resources, strategy/visionary, leadership, employment law / legal, starting & sustaining a new business, franchise opportunities, financing your business, and sales training.

If you are interested in applying, please complete the application below. All fields must be completed in order to submit your application. Members may complete multiple applications on subjects they wish to be considered to present. Deadline for applications is Friday, May 17, 2024. All applications will be reviewed by The Woodlands Area Business Summit Leadership and speakers will be notified no later than May 31, 2024.

Please note that the information provided may be used for marketing purposes, should you be selected to participate. Each breakout session will be forty minutes long. This time includes introductions, presentation and Q&A session.

SPEAKER TERMS AND AGREEMENT *
The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce (“The Chamber”) is seeking presenters and facilitators to share their expertise and leading-edge ideas, inspire enlightening discussions, and convey the fundamentals for growing business during the Business Summit. Speakers and presentations are selected based on relevance of topics to the overall business community. Members interested in presenting/facilitating should submit the online speaker application. All applicants must belong to an organization who is a member of The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce and is in good standing. As speakers are selected for the Business Summit, the Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce staff will contact the presenter or facilitator for more details. Please keep in mind that this is not a promotional pitch for the presenters, but an opportunity to showcase your particular area of expertise. Applicants may submit proposals for multiple topics or programs. An ideal presentation will: • Engage the audience to interact with the speaker and other attendees. • Provide tangible takeaways, so participants can put good ideas to work. • If applicable, engage attendees with group activities as well as audience participation and discussion. • Provide practical learning/tips that audience members can employ in their business. • Provide a topic which is business or community related. Event Specific Requirements: • Speaker will meet all event-related deadlines provided by The Chamber, including but not limited to deadlines for marketing and presentation materials. • Arrive at the presentation a minimum of 30-minutes early to check technology setup and room layout. • Each room is equipped with an LCD projector, screen, and laptop. Any additional a/v needs must be coordinated with Chamber staff in advance at the speaker’s expense. • Include time for Q&As for attendees after the presentation. • Agree to give the presentation irrespective of the number of people preregistered or in actual attendance. • Speakers should provide their own visuals and handout materials for their presentations. General Terms and Conditions: • Speaker must follow the topic and presentation submitted and approved by The Chamber. • Speaker must regularly monitor email communication for information about the event and/or deadlines from The Chamber. • Speaker grants The Chamber and its agents, licensees, members, and employees a royalty-free, perpetual license to publish, reproduce or otherwise use the Speaker’s name, picture, likeness, comments, voice for any lawful purpose in all media in connection the event. • Speaker is knowingly and voluntarily taking part in the activities for which their image is being captured and understand the associated requirements. • To the best of Speaker’s knowledge, their presentation does not violate any proprietary or personal rights of others (including, but not limited to, any copyright, trademark, or privacy rights), is factually accurate, and contains nothing defamatory or otherwise unlawful or inappropriate. Speaker will not record or otherwise digitally capture the presentation for his/her own use. • Speaker is responsible for all hotel, travel, meal and other personal expenses related to the presentation. • Speaker shall conduct themselves in a professional and civil manner. • Speaker will notify the Chamber immediately in the event that an emergency should prevent him/her from meeting his/her obligations as a speaker. Any substitution of a new speaker will be at the sole discretion of The Chamber. • Speaker’s invitation to participate can be revoked at The Chamber's sole discretion if the Speaker fails to comply with any of the above obligations. By submitting an application for consideration, the applicant is agreeing that s/he has read and acknowledges the foregoing responsibilities and guidelines for speaking at The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce Business Summit.
