Ambassador Untermeyer – ‘Why Do They Act That Way?’: China, Russia, Iran & the Arab Middle East
Ambassador Chase Untermeyer, Fmr. U.S. Ambassador to Qatar & Director of Voice of America VOA
As the former U.S. Ambassador to Qatar, Director of Voice of America VOA, Assistant Secretary of the Navy and other international positions, Ambassador Chase Untermeyer developed a deep and unique understanding of many key regions of the world.
Ambassador Untermeyer will show how geography and history help explain the foreign policy of modern Russia, China, Iran, the Arab world and the United States. These two factors, he believes, influence the nations’ behavior on the world stage more than ideology, religion and economics.
Nations, like individuals, have psyches and personalities that drive them to act in particular (and sometimes peculiar) ways. Ambassador Untermeyer will examine this key cluster of nations in an attempt to answer the question, “Why do they act that way?”.
